The kickass ponytail stopped me in my tracks; it was on an old man at the grocery store, and there’s a sad story behind it.

So I was pushing my cart when, up ahead, I spotted this big thick ponytail.

And I thought, “Is that a MAN?” I quickly pushed my cart towards the shopper.

“It’s a man!” I knew right then and there that I was going to compliment him and then ask his permission to get a picture of it.

No, I’m not creepy. I have another article on this site about older people rocking kickass ponytails, and my intention was to add the image to that article.

So I told him I loved his ponytail.

His face really lit up and he immediately launched into the story behind the ponytail.

The gentleman, perhaps near 70, explained that he knew of an older couple who remained homebound due to their fear of catching COVID-19 (even though this was past the lockdown period).

Eventually, they decided they couldn’t keep living that way, so they made an appointment for both to get their hair cut.

A week later, both were dead from COVID-19.

So the man decided he wasn’t going to get his hair cut.

His glorious ponytail had been two years in the making.

He added that his wife has told him she thinks he should get it cut.

I said, “No, don’t ever get it cut!” I bid him farewell, armed with three pictures of that big-ass ponytail.

Here’s my other article dedicated to older women — and men — with glorious ponytails.
