Did you recently get someone else’s or even your own pee splashed in your eye?
This not only has a very high “yuck factor,” but the urine could also cause a stinging if it makes contact with your skin if you have any tiny open cuts or abrasions there.

You just got splashed in the eyes with urine. The first impulse is to find the nearest water faucet and splash water and soap on your face.
But then you’re wondering if you should see an eye doctor. What really should you do next?
“Urine is typically sterile [from bladder storage], but it’s still a good idea to rinse it out with water,” says Dr. Brian Boxer Wachler, MD, eye surgeon and founder of The Boxer Wachler Vision Institute, and developer of the Holcomb C3-R® procedure which treats a degenerative eye disease.
Dr. Boxer Wachler continues, “It would be rare to get an infection from urine. If you have concerns, then see an eye doctor for an evaluation.
“It’s always prudent to avoid ‘golden showers’ whenever you can.”
In short, there is no need to worry, let alone panic.
But as mentioned, if there’s any stinging or a burning sensation, the urine has likely made contact with a portion of your skin that’s open.
This could be from a scratch, a razor cut or the result of picking at a blemish. The stinging or burning does not mean you’ll get an infection.
It never hurts to see your doctor if the stinging persists despite a good rinsing.
But getting pee splashed in your eye is certainly nothing to become anxious about.
