After your child has been playing outside or maybe inside on a court, do you then notice strange white and pink spots on their face?

“White and pink spots on the face after exercise is usually due to dilated vessels in the face that cause increased blood flow which can cause an appearance of flushed skin,” explains Dr. Charnetta Colton-Poole, MD, a board certified pediatrician based in Atlanta, GA.

This is nothing to worry about. Some areas of the child’s face will have more flushing from the increased blood flow than others, creating that “white and pink spot” appearance.

Dr. Colton-Poole adds, “Also, clogged pores during exercise by sweat can cause redness in the form of fine bumps on the face.”

With 15+ years in the medical field, Dr. Colton-Poole is also a medical communication strategist and content creator.
